Update: 12/21/07 (addition to the original thread)

Anyone who has contributed or donated to charity during this season, not only just your clad, but any donation, please let me know by commenting to this thread (or PM'ing me) and I will add you to the list of contributers. Thank you!

If any member has donated their time for a worthy cause, let me know and you will also have your name added to the list of contributers.

It's not just all about money!

You all are so very giving. I am humbled by the responses and also honored to receive some of the anonymous contributions via personal messages.

    - original post from Dec 09, 2007, 10:35:30 AM -
Hello and happy holidays to all.

Yesterday, I took $26 of my clad into the grocery store when I went shopping, ran it through the Coinstar machine and on the way out dropped the $23 balance I got back after the Coinstar fees in the Salvation Army kettle. I took it to coinstar because I didn't want to put the dirty coins in the till... but I am sure they would take em anyway if I had

With all the good finds I had this year including several hundred in clad, this is a small fee to pay, a little give back to help some others in need this holiday. After all, each coin I found, someone else had lost, so basically my gain was because of their misfortune.

I would like to encourage everyone to follow suit
and dump some of your clad off as a donation
to a worthy charity before Christmas.
Or, make a pledge here for any donation you plan to make soon.
Clad or not, I will count that in the totals too... THANKS!

It's all good. A good cause. Good karma. Good people. GO FOR IT!!

I will set a goal of $1000 donated by TNet members
and keep track of the total in the Title Line of the thread above.
Please help us reach this goal!

So if your up for it, please donate (any amount big or small, every dollar will help someone).
Then let us know by posting your donation amount in this thread so I can add it to the total.
Or, you can personal message me and I will add your pledge to the running total!

    Thanks and keep smiling!
    BDoo

Since you were going to doo two donations DM, I did a second one today too.

At our work, they were gathering items and cash donations from our employees to buy items, to make up Christmas stockings from our company for US Soldiers in the war in the middle east. Personal hygene items, boxes of XMas cards for them to send back to their families, current magazines, candies, stationary, etc, were some of the things that we were gathering.

I donated $20 to that today and will take back $23 in clad to coinstar to pay back my wallet. I am adding $20 to the running total.

I hope others will join in soon and DONATE TO A WORTHY CAUSE.

If you do, post it here and I will add it to our total!

    Smiles!

Re: TNet 2007 Holiday Clad Donations - running total donated - $54.53

    Hello BDoo,

This is a great idea, and perfect timing for me too. I'm going to take all my clad since April of this year to the coinstar this week. I will donate $40 to either the Salvation Army or a Children's organization that is collecting outside my grocery store.

Come on, everyone, I know there's many md'ers on our forum who found a good amount of treasure this year. If we all help out a little, together we will make a difference for the less fortunate.

    Happy Holidays,

Re: TNet 2007 Holiday Clad Donations - running total donated - $94.53

    Great idea.
I've donated toys and food at our work drop boxes already, but I'm headed to Wal-Mart now.
I will drop another $15 into the bucket. I've given $5 already, so that makes $20 to the Salvation Army.
    Merry Christmas,

Re: TNet 2007 Holiday Clad Donations - running total donated - $160.03

So far $50 to the Salvation Army, and $50 to the no kill pet shelter.
Canned food already to the local food pantry and I searched out boots and jackets at the local thrift shops this fall and donated them to the Salvation Army for needy kids.
Am currently sewing fuzzy pet beds for the animal shelters, have 20 done, 20 more to go.
Will be working at the soup kitchen 2 days before Christmas to help get things ready for Christmas Day.
Made a bunch of lap blankets last summer, and will be dropping them off at the county nursing home. Some of these old folks haven't had a visitor in years. So if you have nothing to donate but time; go play checkers or something with them; or just sit and talk to them. They'd be ever so grateful just to have a listening ear
When you get into a tight place and everything goes against
you till it seems you could not hold on a minute longer,
never give up then for that is just the place and time that
    the tide will turn.

Thanks Kirk!! I'll count you in for $20. That's generous of you dude, well done and thanks!
Every dollar counts for those who are not as fortunate as us. We have a home, computer, our detectors, food, and much much more...many don't have what we take for granted.
Merry Christmas... hope santa is good to you!
