My two big "brushes" with fame....

I made the news for 2 days when our house burned down.

Years ago, I got to play and sing with Gene Pitney (Town Without Pity - told you, long time ago), and we had lunch.

Let's see, I got to meet Fabian (anybody remember him?) after a dinner theater performance he did. I met Cloris Leachman and Noel Harrison after a theater performance when we went backstage. We were invited in to Cloris's dressing room and got to listen to her lecture some poor teenage girl about how to get rid of her acne (beginning by going vegetarian). Got her autograph, nice lady. Met Neil Diamond when he was first starting out doing a battle of the bands gig (jerk). Met B.B. King after a concert. A very kind gentleman. One of his band members tried to pick up my sister-in-law! We got invited onto the tour bus for a quick look. I'm pretty sure there are others, but can't think of them right now.

Oh, I forgot about John Denver.

One night, his bus came to our local truck stop. His band members came in the restaurant - they were all jerks, and John Denver stayed in the bus. I got up the nerve to knock on the bus door, since I could see him sitting watching tv.

He didn't even look. Oh well.

There is a drop leaf table in Susan Sarandon's house with my name on it.
I work for an upper end furniture company here in VT. The table as well as ALOT of very expensive furniture was purchased by a designer to decorate her house. Back then I was the table builder at work.

Re: What's your brush with fame?

It's not a brush with fame - but it's pretty cool!

This kid used to work for me, he became an Air Force cop. He was the little boy in the 70s commercial who sat on the dock fishing while he ate his Oscar Meyer bologna... singing the song... " ...Oh I love to eat it every day... and if you ask me why I'll say!... " :tongue3:

Here it is... LMFAO

Re: What's your brush with fame?

I saw a Movie with Famous people Once :D

Well other then Partying with Fuel, & the Guess Who
I can't remember if their were any other Famous bands,
I got to Sit around & BS with.

Fuel was Through the Night Club I Worked at.

The Guess Who, in the late 80's or early '90's I Pretended to be with the Crew,
at a Club nobody knew me at.
They Didn't Nark on me, & let me sit with them
and have all Crew Benifits
at the Show. (I still Don't know their names unless I look them up :P)

there was a Sears catalog Model I partied with in the 70's
lived in Lebanon, But don't remember her name,
or think she ever went fruther.

And a Couple Porn stars and a Miss Nude Canada, I partied with,
after a show they did. was all innocent. just very down to earth
people who liked to talk. one was Amber Something ? I think Lynn.
I Know I never saw their Movies.

and a couple of New york Comedians. one who claimed he had a bit part on
Seinfeld, did bimonthly shows at the club. I Never found out who he played.
but after the shows we'd sit around and BS
But unless I can find where my Photo Collection is Buried,
I can't name names (Real bad Memory)

& of course met Tom Massie if you consider him famous.

And Picked up 1983, Miss Pennsylvania Jennifer Eshelman
Sitting along I-81 waiting for her dad to pick her up.
She got Dropped off at the Exit Home from College.
Before she bacame Miss PA. & he was late.
I saw her sitting there & Hit the breaks & Offerd her a Ride.
Got about half way to her home & Her dad passed us.
We signaled him to turn around & He followed us To her place.

Remember Momma ?

From

Throw Momma from the Train.

I'd swear I saw her Pushing a shopping cart on the Atlantic City Boardwalk years ago.
Was her or her Twin.

and of course "Celeste" from atlantic city
Remember the Woman no arms or legs Featured on Howard Stern
years ago ?

She would lay on her Stomach on a Gurney
& Play the organ with her nose & Tongue.
on the boardwalk.

Re: What's your brush with fame?

Oh, I remember some more :)....back in the 80's when I was stationed at 'roton' Groton (CT)...I voluntered for Duty Driver and I was the Duty Driver for the then Sec of the Navy, John Lehman....what a really nice man he was. He did not speak down to you nor made you feel that he was better than you.... a really down to earth guy....even his body guard, who sat in the front seat (Mr. Lehman was in the back)....he was nice too....!!! I wish I had a camera back then with me....dang it! Oh well, as long as I have my memory! That same day I met "Poppa" Bush (he was VP at the time) and Adm Rickover. OMG...Adm Rickover was a character!!!!!! And very long winded!!!! LOL

OH ... and something interesting....I met "Poppa" Bush back in the 80's and then my dau, when she was stationed at Pensacola (FL 2005)...she was on some kind of detail duty and met "Baby" Bush...!!! She sent me some awesome pics...even one of "Baby" Bush "itching" his buttocks!!! LOL (that is a distant photo, not a close up). Barbara Bush was there also...I didn't get to meet her in the 80's though...so my dau is one up on me. And she received personnally from ... the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), VADM Vern Clark, one of his coins. In the service, you can collect coins....she's got quite a few. The only way to receive one from the CNO is to have him personnally hand you one! I guess you have to be military to understand how exciting it is to meet these top officials ;).

Remember the ladies, can't remember the group, that sang the song "THE NAME GAME"?...well, took my parents out to dinner one night out on the Island (Long) and they were there doing a show. We got a pic of us with them and I even got their signatures. If I remember correctly, only one was not of the original group.

Oh, and Ike Turner and his wife stayed at the hotel I was working at ... The Clarion on Bonney Rd, Va Beach back in the mid 90's. She came to the desk to register, he was not there that I could see. Got her signature too! She was very nice!

Keep posting ya'll....you are making me jog the memory abit LOL
Have a nice day,
Annmarie

OH...met a few of the TNet'ers....they are famous too! ;)...didn't get autographs, but I got the pics!!! ;) :)

Its so funny He'll get pissed I'm tellin people this I'm sure, but back in high school john was fat had uncontrolable curly hair, braces and asthma as well as two left feet. Just goes to show what a little hollywood majic can do for a person. I will say this for him. Even back then I figured him for a star one day because the boy could sing like one. As for Ron Jeremy being a pig in high school I think most boys are, I know I was. :D

Re: What's your brush with fame?

When I was 19 and home from college during summer vacation,
I would caddy at the Glen View Club (golf) to earn a few extra bucks.
After I finished my morning two-bag loop for 18 holes, the caddy master
asked if I could carry another double for two of the "older" members
of the club after lunch, so I said "sure".

The first of these two "older" members turned out to be Chick Evans,
the 1916 winner of both the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open. My second
"older" member was Jock Hutchinson, who won the 1920 PGA and
1921 Open Championship at St. Andrews.

When I look back, this was the best loop I ever had. . . I think even Tiger's caddy would be impressed :)

Well, if that is the case for Jon, age has done him very well too! (Don't worry, if ever I should have the privilege of meeting him, I won't tell him you told us! LOL)....Just saw a commercial about a show he is suppose to be on, can't recall the name....but he looks so good!!! Sure do miss him on SMALLVILLE!!! His curly (wavy) hair looks good too!

No....Ron was a PIG....not your typical "boys are" type of pig!! I didn't know this until later when on my school forum...that he use to be and still holds his credentials...but was a high school teacher. I wouldn't want him teaching my kids .... not even how to tie their shoes!!!

Re: What's your brush with fame?

Way back when I worked as a "lifeguard" (glorified pool janitor) for the Mariott Hotel in Newport Beach. One of the duties was to check the tennis courts to make sure the players had payed to use the courts. Three ladies were playing with no receipt. Sent them up to the desk to pay. Hotel manager calls all irate asking me if I knew who I just threw off the tennis court? I remember standing there saying what the Heck is a Billy Jean King? To make matters worse a little while later this mangy stray looking dog wanders up to the pool and starts drinking out of it. Well... I coax him into the pump room & call security to have animal control come pick up the "stray" not long after the manager wants to know if I saw a dog wandering around. Yes sir! I've got animal control coming to get him...... His response? Do you know who that dog belongs to? I was never so glad to see anyone leave!
Knew John Wayne, and got cussed out by Buddy Epson (Beverly Hillbillys) for leaning on his fence and breaking some of his flowers. Talked to Sterling Holloway several times in a Coco's restaurant.
