Re: Burdie's Trip Day 1 2008. For those who can't get out this is for you.

If I don't have a house I guess I will have to travel the rest of my life. To bad so sad. :tongue3: We took a foody tour today. Stoped in places the locals go to. All I can say is WOW!!! PICT0022-2.JPG The best smothered shrimp I have ever tasted. :blob7: :blob6:

PICT0024-2.JPG All natural ingredients fantastic cupcakes. ;D Also brownies to die for.

PICT0027.JPG Oh yes we had to stop at a chocolate store that has chocolate from all over the world shipped in. :o PICT0028-1.JPG We left after gaining 5 lbs.

Our last stop was at Lady and sons. A buffet style. It was Paula Dean's second location. Great food. Well I will post later on about Historic places.

Hope you enjoy the pics.

Here are some pictures of the Historic down town district. Cottonexchange.jpg I wonder what is in front of this place? :BangHead:

I would love to hunt this park. PICT0009-2.JPG PICT0010-1.JPG I love these old trees. All I could think of was all the Spanish reales laying in the ground. :tongue3:

Hope you enjoy.

Here are a few more. PICT0012-3.JPG PICT0014-2.JPG The dueling pistols was used in1870's I believe.

PICT0018-2.JPG Most of the houses were built in 1800's PICT0021-3.JPG

Here is one of the colonial homes. PICT0026-2.JPG PICT0031-2.JPG

Going to the oldest house in Savannah tonight. Next to it is the Pirate house. If you had a little to much to drink you might be abducted into the navy.

Re: Burdie's Trip July 12 th. For those who can't get out this is for you.

I found another Gem today in Modern Miner. He is a super nice guy. We hunted a site most people would die for.
We made a mad dash for Raleigh with limited stops and no pictures. In the first 10 minutes I found a great little part to a buckle I think. The experts can tell me what it is I hope. I might add for an old man I wore down in this heat fast. I can't tell you how much fun I had though. Just walking on the same ground of a CW site was fantastic. MM Thank You.

Heading for the high country to search for Gems tommorrow.

Keep those pics coming. Glad you had a great hunt with MM.

Speaking of Paula Deen, today's local paper has her in the headlines. If they get their website up for today I will post it. But, she visited Ponchatoula, her brother-in-law (husband's brother) is the priest there at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. What a small world?

Re: Burdie's Trip July 15 th. UP Date.

Internet slow as 1755 LOL. Well today we drove around and looked at some old buildings and a few houses. I didn't get out and ask to hunt. I was chicken. Did visit Fort Dobbs a colonial fort to help protect residents from the French and Indians.
PICT0001-3.JPG I have the feeling the Indians are near get your defenses set up. PICT0002-4.JPG

This is a cabin just like the colonials built. PICT0003.JPG Hmmm something seems wrong with this picture. :icon_scratch: :D

These are types of defensive measures they set up around the stockade. PICT0004.JPG PICT0006-3.JPG

Similar type of water well they used. PICT0005-4.JPG
Thanks for looking
