A friend has had apiece of glassabout 5 inches
across and 2 inches deep. The bottom appears
to be black glass with gold flakes scattered on
top and the clear glass on top.He aquiered this
about 2 years ago and tried smashing it with a
large hammer to get the gold out. It didnt work.
Now he has a buch of glass with gold flakes in
it. Some arestill fair size. over 1 inch around.
Does anyone have any idea how to get the gold
out ? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You in advance, Jimbob

More than likely, the gold is in the form of an extremely thin foil.

Chances are that it will be next to impossible to recover the gold content in any manner.

The value would be negligible...

And lastly, it may be gold colored foil with zero gold content.

A drop or two of dish soap in a gold pan and pan it out. The specs that won't pan out sniff out with a sniffer bottle. Fine flour gold can float on top of water, the soap is used to break the surface tension on the water to help stop the gold from floating off.

Good luck.
