But a handful of scientists believe that the experiment could create a
shower of unstable black holes that could ‘eat’ the planet from within,
and they are launching last-ditch efforts to halt it in the courts.

One of them, Professor Otto Rossler, a retired German chemist, said he
feared the experiment may create a devastating quasar – a mass of energy
fuelled by black holes – inside the Earth.

‘Nothing will happen for at least four years,’ he said. ‘Then someone
will spot a light ray coming out of the Indian Ocean during the night
and no one will be able to explain it.

Merf, 2012 is the date of the polar flip. Actually it is now to be July 1010.
I believe that you are referring to CERN. The Hadron collider project. Actually anything could happen. In my opinion I suspect you would get an explosion befor you would get a black hole. Remember when they exploded the first A bomb they did not know if they would create a chain reaction that would destroy the entire world or just a large explosion, but they did it anyway! At any rate they are going to test fire this Wednesday with a full fireing in about a month.

Dirt, They are saying that that is wrong now due to changes. Remember we changed our calender, left out a few months. And now the word is July 2010. Lets pray that they are all wrong and the Mayens simply ran out of rock because they started out with one too small.

Well I know one thing I don't have time to watch for that "light ray."

I'm way too busy watching for the Lockness Monster.

And when they first set off an atomic bomb I am sure if it was like it is in today's world half the scientist's would say the reaction might not stop and would consume the whole earth.

I sure am glad we learned about nuclear reactions and have nuclear power.

Nothing will happen, and the information gained might help solve the energy problem we all face.

2012? It will come and go just like 2000 did, and I will be another year older...

Last thing I saw on the Mayan calendar was it would just flip over like an odometer at 2012.

Now we gotta get some of them Mayan fellas to carve up a new one.

Then everything will be fine.

Unless them Switzers and Frenchies make a bunch of black holes like in Roger Rabbit ACME warehouse.

...If it's ACME, it's a gasser!

I think they're still mad about the 'country fries' thingy, and Ovaltine.

Maybe they can microwave the Alps and not have any more avalanches.

Them Avalanches are way too ugly and get bad gas mileage, anyway.

I suddenly have a mental picture of Wile E coyote
sitting on the side of the road on his ACME rocket....

You just know, that's gonna leave a mark.

Yep another day closer and no black hole ending darn it. That would've made for a good sci fi movie. Oh that's right, it did make a good sci fi movie, well ok maybe not a good one but they did already make the movie. :tongue3:
