Like to hike, hunt, fish, or cross-country ski at Castle Rock State Park? How about camping at Lowden State Park or standing on the bluff by the Black Hawk Statue just admiring the Rock River valley? All of those activities would be taboo if a decision by state officials is realized in two months.

Lowden State Park and Castle Rock State Park, both near Oregon, are among 11 state parks slated for closing Nov. 1 by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR).

THANKS BLAGO you make hippo dung look better

They are closing Moraine View State Park down by me too! :'(
It is a great park. There are petitions going around to save it or possible have the county or city buy it back from the state. Very sad situation.

The park ranger at ARC told us this Sunday and he was uncertain about the future of ARC as well. Also much to my dismay he said we can longer detect in ARC but did set us up with permits in several DNR sites nearby.

I heard today that castle rock and lowden parks will be open to foot traffic only through the winter, then reopen.

Excuse my lack of awareness but why are all of these places shutting down? And what does that mean, basically? What happens to the land and everything?

in short its like
you pay state tax for say road usage/repairs etc
but by them closing down the parks
is like them saying you can only drive down your street and not use any other state roads
because the nanny socialist state that blago is running has shilled out so much money to the who have their hands out
BUT they cant take care of the people who pay the taxes to keep the state running for the dead beats

California has been doing that **** for quite a while now.

For years they've put up miles of barbed wire, evil signs, closed off and blocked trails, and put in a system of gates to keep the people out of their own lands.

It's almost as if the land was being preserved for someone else.

I forgot about dynamiting mines, and springs...

and waging a war of litigation against in-holders.

Years back, there was a neato little 10 minute video going around called "Big Park".

Really great!

If you ever run across it, do take the few minutes to watch it.

Nothing excels at excess like government!

Best
