Dog n Suds!!!

This is my FAVORITE Drive-In! There are VERY FEW of them left nationwide, only 16 locations. In Montague, Michigan is what was the ONLY Dog n Suds in the state. It opened in 1963 and the same family has owned it since 1965, the year I was born. Dave, the owner of the Montague location, has recently purchased a former Dog n Suds in nearby Muskegon and is renovating it back to its former Dog n Suds glory. I have eaten at the Montague Dog n Suds since I was little. I was quite taken aback when I was MDing with some huntin partners in Charleston, IL and saw one in operation there. I of course just had to stop in for my Coney Dog, Onion Ring, and Root Beer fix! Here's a couple pics of the Montague Dog n Suds.

I actually also found this list when I was looking for pics to plagarize off of the web for my original post. I was surprised to find that there was one in Wisconsin when I saw it. My sister lives over there in Kiel (Near Sheboygan) and she works for Kohler Engines. In Kohler, of course. Well, actually, I don't know if she's still on their payroll or not. She contracted leukemia and they think it's from the benzene that's present in the plant. She's doing OK though, it's the kind that can be kept at bay with pills and so far it's staying regressed. I take the SS Badger across from Ludington to Manoitowoc to visit a few times a year....So now I have to find Tomahawk!!!

Years ago I went to a place called Mugs And Jugs in Surrey, BC... I Don't remember if food was on the menu though. Man I love Coney dogs and burgers and we have a few gem spots for them here in Ontario.

There used to be an "Arf & Barf" by my house where I grew up, 1900 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Sadly, it went under about the time the McDonald's opened a block south (about 1971). It then became a place called "Sark's", and the "Brudders". Almost the whole 1900 block got bulldozed in the past few years and it's still a vacant lot now. I've had to satisfy myself with hitting the Richmond and Grayslake, IL locations when I'm in the area. I love the Dog Bites.
