Never found a dog "tax" tag. Have found a few rabies vaccination tags and hunting dog tags but no "tax" tag. Were people actually taxed at one time for owning dog(s)? My best dog tag is a 1954 rabies vaccination. It is some type of aluminum and still had almost all of the red paint on it as well. Would have been close to mint if not struck and bent by a plow. The reason I really like the tag is that it is from an old lone gone homesite where my dad lived with my grandparents as a child. Its very likely from one of his dogs.
