    Tearin' it up

Saturday I came across a sidewalk tear out and decided to give it a try. The houses in this area date to early 1900's so I had a chance at some goodies covered by the concrete entombment.

Found-out that the city uses metal forms for their concrete work, which only gave me a little bit of room to detect. Those things sound-off really nice even when the sensitivity is down.

Found a Jamestown Ter Centennial Fob / Medallion? '58 Wheatie and the clad dime and Memorial.

Not a big tear out project, but big enough to reveal the hidden goods.

    Thanks Ry,

I did a Google search the day I found it and went to that page, but I overlooked the picture that you linked to. Certainly looks the same.

I cleaned it with a soft toothbrush and some dish wash soap, then I nuked some Hydrogen Peroxide & soaked the Fob in it. Got a bunch of dirt out of the letters to clearly read it without using my glasses.

Ok, I gotta get all my chores done so I can get out and find some of my own cool chit. No offense but I'm tired of living/MD'ing vicariously thru this board

Would certainly love to hunt that after the first 10-12 inches was scracped off of it. That would definitely get us alot closer to the goodies underneath.

Nice find DJH!!! I have never had any real luck with street tear outs but they can give up some good stuff.

I wish they would do something destructive there so we can dig up some good stuff instead of watching those guys put their lives in extreme danger digging bottles. TMAN...
