Cool temps. = Hot Detecting
Hope everyone survived the rash of storms late Saturday evening early Sunday morning. I certainly thought the Sunday hunt was gonna be a wash, as xgregx and I were heading to Area Dirty-one for some dirt digging.
First good target was the '43 Merc. in an area that we have pounded the heck out of since we found this particular spot. He pulled a Indian shortly after that he and I had walked over many times before. Like tmanfromtexas says, if you're off an inch it might as well be a mile. So we pounded this partilcular site for a couple of more hours and decided to recon some of the other 100 acres just to see what we had missed or what we could find.
So we settled in on an area that we had never hit before and the first target I dug was a tiny disc shape that certainly resembled a coin, but wasn't quite sure what it read. We both thought it said Centimo or Centavo, but it had anough dirt and corrosion to make it not fully readable even with glasses and magnifier. The coin ended up being a Lucky Play Money coin with Franklin D. Roosevelt on it.
Pulled a '53 Washington Quarter not long after that and the icing on the cake was the Standing Liberty Quarter dead in the middle of the lawn at 8" deep. Dug the Wheatie sometime after the SL.
Pulled a couple of Award medals as well. One is for Varsity Speech and the other with the person kneeling is not known what that was for.
Got some of those rusty nails for the Traveling Tiara as well.

WOW DJH...what GREAT finds!
Me and TmanfromTX got out yesterday....he pulled out his first IH of the year and a 20's something wheatie...but me...a '56 (or was it a '58 wheatie) and a rusty nail...that made me happy!
I was talking w/ the hubby and he made some comment about me talking when I told him that you refer to my chatter like a mosquito in the headphones. Oh man, he laughed and laughed, thought it was the funniest damn thing!
Yea for the nails!!!! The traveling tiara thanks ya bunches!

Thanks Ry, Man the day after the hunt I feel like an older man. All sore and achy. (Notice Vibes I said Older) I think we hunted for 6-7 hours total Sunday.

Thnx Vibes, Good to see ya made it out instead of doing the virtual reality detecting here on Tnet. Haven't dug an Indian yet this year, but hope to sometime before the next Ice Age sets in. I figured your hubby had a sense of humor and glad he got a kick out of the mosquito joke.

Thnx Tman,
I know what you mean about those SLQ's and I feel the same way about the Seated's and Barbers. They look so much more regal? Those designs on the coins back in the day had class. Now we have coins with busts of dead presidents that didn't have much class if any.
Can't blame the cleanout on this guy. This Elkhart trio doesn't make it over that way to much. In fact, that Sunday hunt we met you at was the first ever I had hunted in the Bend.
Been to Mishawaka a couple of times. The first time I didn't find any silver and had to go back during the wek to find one so I wouldn't feel left out. If I remember right, Vibes found the V-Nickle at that park and all I got was measily clad.

Thnx JD,
Those silver dry spells are agony but they will pop out of the ground when you least expect it.
Greg had the same problem the day we hit Area-Dirty 1.
Believe it or not, I felt bad for him and offered the rusty nails of which he politely turned down.

Thanks wingmaster.
Silver hasn't been coming out of the ground that easy around here lately, so we had to make a road trip for this one.
