Civil War era button found
Hey all,
Got out Wednesday for a bit of dirt digging. Didn't find to much other than an Eagle button. Was thinking that it could possibly be Civil War era, but not being a militaria buff or a civil war nut, I wasn't sure until after I posted in the What is It Forum.
Turns out that I found my first Civil War relic without leaving the state
Think I'll do just a bit of tooth picking on the dirt that resides on it and call it quits.
Here's the link to the What's it Forum Thread

Nice find DJH, I heard they are finding civil war bullets in Benton.....Hmm. Did you have to leave the city to find that button?

Was wondering if you were still among the living Smasher, as we haven't seen hide nor hair of ya'
Remember that yard you were detecting last year where you found your first Buffalo Nickel? Well guess what?
I didn't find it there
Nah, I found it out in the county where I found a 1865 Indian Head and a 1911 V Nickel earlier this spring. A ton of trash in the ground there and I think I've dug about 1/4 of a ton

This is a first for me and I wasn't sure it was what it is. Think I'll look for some of those plastic foam padded coin holders to put this in. Probably won't find another, but I'll keep my fingers crossed at this site, as there's definitely some surprises hidden there amongst the trash.

Must have fallen off when Johnny came home from war. No battles here, but there was a Civil War Training Camp in White Pigeon, MI that is now a park.
