    64 degrees and falling

Hi all. About time to switch to the waders. These cold nights are really dropping the lake temps fast. Checked out a couple new spots. Some not so productive , others I can hardly wait for the boats and piers to come out. Got my first Canadian silver, 1889 dime. 1903 barber, 1910 V, 18?? V , 1943 war nickel. Gold ring was very deep and looked like a waterfowl band. Its stamped solid gold and has the boys name beautifully engraved inside. Horace Musser was the boys name. I did some research on the SOLID GOLD stamp and found it was used from the late 1800s to 1906 when a carat stamp was required. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this. I believe its 10k. Also got into some religious medallions. A few tokens, 2 are Silver King Novelty co. Indianapolis. 1 is a Utah tax token. Big star thingy maybe from a boat. Some wheat cents. Thanks for looking.

Kevin, those are some great finds and that "V" Nickel looks great even with the blur Try switching your setting on your camera to the Flower Icon, it will allow for those good close up shots.

Congrats on the Gold Ring and your right, I thought it was a bird band at first, which would be expected detecting around the waters.

Not sure on the Karat sign for 10kt. Here is a link I use some of the time. Mostly when it comes to decimal markings on gold jewelry. http://www.angelfire.com/electronic2...Jwlrymark.html

DJ , thanks for the tips on the pictures, unfortunately that's the setting I'm using. Our camera is only 4 mega pix, but honestly its probably not the camera . No k markings in the ring. The site I got my info on said the solid gold stamp was used for all purity from 24k to 10k as there was no standards in the late 1800s to 1906.Maybe time for a better camera. Thanks everyone for the nice comments.
