Howdy all. Since the beginning of the new year, I have been working a lot of overtime. Last weekend was my normal three days off and whether that was going to be seasonably warm. Friday gave me a couple hours so I had to stay local. I decided to hit the field that gave me my first three ringers last year. This year I was surprised to see what was still in the ground. I was running in zero discrimination and digging it all. Once again I was pleased with my finds. When your plucking bullets from the civil war era and you get a nice quarter signal, well you can get a little excited. The same as last year it turned out to be a clad quarter. I'm happy that I have found some bullets but a little disappointed that I haven't found any buttons or anything else of the era. It seems a little odd to me.

Saturday we got a little rain but Sunday was going to be close to the 50's. My research has led me to a field where there was a tavern in the early 19th century, 1814-1815 ish. The field itself is around 120 acres. I had a spot I wanted to hit first. When I got there I started seeing the signs of a house or structure. Brick, glass and plenty of iron in the ground. I got at it and was plucking some buttons, other trinkets. Nothing too noteworthy. I did have a nice marble surface find and a gambling token. There were no coins found so I ventured out in different area's of the field to see if I could find other hot spots. No luck there either. On the way home I decided to stop at the field that put me in the 1800's club. Every time I stop here I leave with a coin or two. This time was no different and I walked out with 16 cents. Thanks for stopping by and reading my post. Best of luck on your hunts. SD

Great Finds!!! I built a hospital in Sullivan, IN in 1998. Are you close to there. I loved that area. Good luck on all your future hunts. May the metal detecting Gods smile upon you... :icon_thumright:

Thanks Roundness. Yes I'm close. I'm in Vigo County, the County North of Sullivan County. The tavern I'm looking for is in Sullivan County. Best of luck in your future hunts also.

Why thank you Mr. Tom. It was nice to get out for a bit. All work and no play is not my style. I hope you can break last years silver count this year. Take em easy.

Thanks Rodney. Keep swinging that coil and your bound to get it over something good. For what it's worth I always carry my first relic find on my hunts. Lucky or not it's in my pocket.

Not been feeling the best but been doing a little research for some spring spots, I like to do people's yards early spring before it's hot and dry then I'll hit some places where the grass won't be a problem. Keep it looking like you wasn't there and your more likely to get nearby owners as well and you'll likely be welcome back to see if you missed any good stuff. HHQUOTE=ShovelinDave;5697995]Thanks Wingmaster. How goes it in the big city?[/QUOTE]
