Button , maybe pewter , Any ideas on origin welcome

Found this button 1988 while metal detecting in Maine . In hardpan and down about 7 inches after top soil had been removed for gravel pit . Seems to be pewter , has button Eye on back , no markings anywhere except on front where i believe initials to be JH . Any info on Circa or ? appreciated . Thanks.
