The old ballfield keeps given 'em up

Got out today for 2 hours as it was my day off. Beautiful day for detecting. Hit the old field and found a couple firsts.
Wheats were deep at 8'" or so. Dates were '17, 18, 25, 26, 38, and 44.
Silver war nick, '43
My first buff, '29.
My first Barber dime, of course I hit it with the digger.
Another V-nick, '12
Oh yeah, a silver Rose
Is spring here?

Thanx for lookin' FFD

Excellent finds! Nice barber, and the V and buff. cool. It was a nice day to dig,
I couldn't get out to the park but just had to swing, so hit the school yard for about an
hour.

Good luck, HH.

Great day rambler! So, you're getting signals at 8"....would you like to reveal what type of "metal" detector you're using....please? ;D

Sounds like a great spot. I love those Barber coins. They are one of my favorites.

Just the begining my friend. By the end of the year you'll have a nice haul of oldies if you detect in the old spots. No turning back now. Congrats on your firsts. Seated is just around the corner. Nice nab on that cool Walker the other day from the bank too. Silver is starting its climb it looks like. Jim

Re: The old ballfield keeps given 'em up

Hi goldie, that spot sounds like it may have potential, although i don't know anything about hunting it, does a detector normally work with that kind of spot?
A far as my ballfield goes, every place has some old finds. I was told not to bother at one particular county park last year, had been hit very hard over time. I ended up digging 3-400 clad coins and later silver coins including quarter, mercs, rosies, and nickels. Good luck to all FFD

Re: The old ballfield keeps given 'em up

Thanks all, this has been a great spot for me, I've dug at least 50 coins here older than 1930; lots of wheats and a couple silver from the '1800's. Just can't believe no one had even pulled the shallow silver. This place is in plain sight of the public and easily accessible. FFD
