OMG! I got one! I finely pulled a silver! I excepted the fact that some experienced detectorist with a big dollar machine already cleaned out my area. I have spent a lot of hours hunting and never pulled any silver. Today was my day! I got a dime hit dug a plug and there she was stuck to the bottom of the plug all shiny and bright! All I could see was the olive leaves and thought, NO WAY! It was 4-5 " deep. 1941 Mercury Dime! I also dug a 1942 Wheat cent that was.......11" deep! :o I sure love that 9 X 12 head. I know a 41 Merc is not a huge recovery but, I have been waiting for a silver for a long time. Thanks for looking!

Congrats on your first silver MM...now they will come more often...just keep thinking "outside the box". Silver and old coins are out there, a high-dollar machine isn't always needed. Heck, lots of old coins are only a few inches deep in the ground, especially those big silver halves! HH, FFD

Found my first Merc. in a private yard and it was a '41 as well. That yard gave me 2 more first. A 1895 Indian and a 1913 Buffalo, both within a week of one another. My oldest dime is a 1877 Seated and I found that at lees than 3 inches in Southen Michigan.
I just pulled a No-Date SLQ at less than 3 inches this past week. Like it was said above in the previous post, "Think outside the box". Old sites can mean shallow old finds just like I found above.

More Silver will soon come.

Kinda gives you a silvery feeling all over don't it? Finds like that have been known to turn a hobbiest into an obsessed hunter. If you become the later, maybe I'll see you out there.
