Sunday May 31st I found what appears to be a ladies class ring. It shows a date of 1954 and nothing else on the face of the ring. Inside it's stamped "Terryberry 10k" . It also has 3 letter initials * * *. There is no school name, and the top gold "crest" if you will, is not discernible. It may be worn smooth ?

I would like to try and return it to it's owner, but I don't know where to start!

I found it on one of my local soccer park fields. It was only about 3" deep, and registered a steady 44 vdi on my cortez. (Thats why I decided to dig!)

1954 just happens to be my birth year!!! So that makes this (high school?) graduate 17 to 18 years older than me! I,m thinking maybe it was worn by a daughter or granddaughter?

Any ideas on how to find the owner? :dontknow:

with some help from Pam at Livingston Co. Gen.net...who contacted Terryberry Co. ...we sort of reached a dead end. The crest on the ring is to worn to be recognized.

"James and Pam

Thank you for the inquiry on the 1954 class ring.

I have had a chance to look at the pictures and have concluded that the crest on top of the ring is too worn to identify where it came from. Since we have not sold class rings since 1990-91, I don’t have any records here to refer to.

It seems funny, but about a week or two ago, someone called in and said they had lost a ring from 1954. Since we don’t have the records, I did not keep any information.

I am sorry that I have not been able to help you.

Sincerely,

Gwen Bolt

that ring is very nice, good luck finding the owner. not having the school would make it pretty challenging, but maybe someone would recognize it. I'd be tempted not to try too hard :-\ nice find

Thanks PG I sent an e-mail to the local historical society to see if anyone recognized the crest. My 2nd gold out of this park, and a lot more area to cover!

No offense, but that is a very strange train of thought.
Personally I would make every effort within reason to try a locate the owner.
There may be some websites that help locate owners.

Good Luck :)

Very nice find.

To return it to the owner would be a great unselfish act.
Obviously someone wore that piece quite a bit.

Just a thought, 'Terryberry' could be the name of the ring company.

It doesn't seem like there are that many graduation ring companies around these days.

Very nice class ring  the last 2 high school rings I found I never did find the owners, 1 was a 1938 though but the other was a 98 from climax and I contacted the school and they were unable to locate the owner, they couldn't find a forwarding address for the family since they relocated out of Michigan. I have returned 2 high school rings though. It seemed so easy the first couple time to locate them but not on the last 2. The last one that I found made the banner.

none taken... I can see how that could come across like I'm a selfish pig. I meant it as more of a compliment to the find than my confession of being a greedy turdball. sreiously though, I definately am not suggesting not to try and find the owner. I too was able to return a gold ring to its owner last year for the first time, and its a wonderful thing for sure. good luck.

Beautiful ring Rad-man! I would make a "feeble" attempt to locate the owner. You can only do so much. FFD
