I can't tell from the pic, but is that dirt around the date or shadowing? anyway when I dig one next year we will have to compare dont bother posting this in the CRH forum you'll probably just get snubbed.

I don't think it's a dug coin, I checked out hundreds of these and at least half have been cleaned sometime in the past. Many of these halves have a "grey" original patina that I don't really care for. I shy away from old cleaned silver coins, the shadowing on this one is slight tarnish.

That is a sweet coin, lots of detail. You should think about getting that one professionally graded.
