    Another woods doodad

    Howdy-
Here's another unidentified woods doodad I found this winter, just before the New Year. It is roughly 2" long, tapered, knurled on the sides, ending in a small knob. The bigger end has four holes in it. I looked at it and looked at it and the best I can come up with is the metal part of an umbrella, the little part that sticks out from under the canopy. I checked and modern umbrella knobby things only have two holes in them with a string running through.

So, you all did so well on my last object. What do you think ffd?

    HH and thanks for looking,

p.s. For you word buffs, "umbra" is the Latin word for shadow. Umbrella = little shadow

You got it right Anne! It's a doo-dad!
Sometimes it is better to see it and hold it to get a better idea. Bring it to the next meeting and we will take a look. Are you going to post your other surprise?

Does the top look like it was triangular? It reminds me of a bayonet scabbard tip though I have never seen on like that.

The end looks like it would have been a square shape at one time especially since there are four holes.
