    silver and my first IH woot woot

    i was detecting some construction in my home town right when it was getting dark and out pops a merc about half and inch down first merc for the year. then when to an old 1 room school house and got an old button and i cant I.D it any help? after that we went to an early 1800's cemetery and the first thing i find is my very first Indian head penny 1868 a very exciting find for me....love the old coins....happy hunting.dan

    Very nice! You will never forget your first Indian head penny. I still remember the disbelief of holding my first in the middle of a field. Nice silver as well. Congrats.

    congrats on the silver and your first IH, came out of a cemetery? I would be careful about that, even if it is on private property most people are very leery about digging there. I've seen people dig up casket parts that roots pushed up.

    Yes, a lot of people frown on cemetery hunting as it is considered disrespectful to hunt in someone's final resting place. People sometimes leave little momentos at the gravesites and I'd hate to take home something accidentally that someone put there on purpose.

    That aside, congrats on your first IH.

    WTG on the finds. I think you will find that most people are against digging in Cemetaries. Let the dead rest in peace if you will. Many newbies have done it, but find later that it is a bad idea.
