    Brand new to this

Bought a Garrett 250 and headed out to a public campground near Luzerne, close to my cabin. Was hunting for about 10 minutes when a caretaker asked me to quit as i was digging up the areas he was trying to mantain. I tried to explain I would restore these very small digs, but he was adamant. No big deal, I moved down to an unmaintained area close by where canoeists would put in and take. Nothng but bottlecaps in coin mode. Oh well.....it's a start.

Is there anyone in this group up my way?

    Hello bigcreek,

Welcome to the forum and the hobby. A quick tip and a must for anyone new entering the hobby. Always get permission before hunting private property. Camp grounds are usualy privately owned and if it is a state camp ground they are usualy off limits. Make sure you know the rules before you start hunting because it could cause you trouble and problems for the future of our shared hobby. With that being said welcome and I cant wait to see your finds. Good luck and have fun.

It's a combination park/campground owned by the township. I pay taxes to the township and thus have rights to use it. I think the big issue was the caretakers concerns, with which I had no problem. Plenty of other places to hunt.

I am not sure what you are saying but it sounds like you were leaving holes, no matter where you are at you must restore each hole as soon as you find the target.

in most cases you can just cut a horseshoe type plug where you can flip it over and flip it back not even noticable of being there. Anyway welcome to the forum and the hobby, good luck and hope to see some of your finds posted soon. I love type old stuff myself, so generally stay away from tot lots and public spots that don't have history, but I found my first merc in my front yard and my house was built in the 50's. HH, Griff

oldsledz......for the record, I was not leaving holes. I have a great respect for the outdoors, and do not leave damage where I have tread.

I am glad to hear that, the way it was worded I wasn't sure. Welcome to the hobby, what part of the state are you from?

Welcome. Not sure where that is, but hang around and ask all the questions you like. Check out our web site. We have a meeting tonight if you are interested.
