Are fairgrounds fair game?

I have a cabin near Luzerne, and so far, my Michigan (live in Ohio) hunting has centered at the Oscoda County Park, which has many campsites. Besides a lot of clad, I've only found one coin of note...a 1939d wheat. The park is a trash field though....countless pull tabs that show as coins.

I was thinking of hitting the Oscoda and Crawford county fairgrounds. Has anyone hunted these before? Also, for the fairgrounds you folks have hubted, did you get permission from someone first?

I think each county will be different. Hillsdale co. has always allowed detecting, but not so in Jackson. Even though its considered a county park, they have always said no. I would definitely try to get permission first. Good luck.

It's always a good thing to get permission first, if possible. Of the three fairgrounds i've hunted, I had permission from two. Lots of trash in all of 'em! ffd

Ya just have to ask. There is one near me that is privately owned. Most think it is public.
