Most impressive. - Sept. 4
Howdy all:
I've been too busy to hunt much lately and it has been extremely dry here. I've been eager to get more practice in with the new machine and today was finally the day. I hunted an old foundation site that the owner thankfully mows around. I have hunted it a few times but only with my Ace 250. Shortly into the hunt I got a good signal and dug a wheat at about 4". I rescanned the hole and still heard a good signal. I found another wheat and then a medium sized nail. A third scan and the Explorer was still singing a happy silver song. I searched further and found a Mercury dime that had slipped along side the plug. Wow, three coins in one hole! They weren't that deep so I can only guess that the nail nullified their signal when I used my Ace. The 28 frequencies of the Explorer didn't miss them.....impressive! I continued hunting and added a belt buckle "Solid Brass - Made in USA." I found some clad and had a total of 9 wheats: '19, '42, '41, '54D, '44, '44D, '46, '46D, and a '19S. The Merc was a '35. The 1919-S wheatie has a beautiful dark patina and the photos don't do it justice.
An extremely fun and educational hunt and I plan to do more gridding at this site. It was salve for my soul to get a decent hunt in with school starting next week.

p.s. Also found a cool moth in the grass, final pic.
The bicycle is a curious vehicle. Its passenger is its engine.

Nice hunt Anne, hope you get some more time to hunt this fall, the more you use that machine the better it gets! Fall's my favorite time of year (after spring). D
