Indian Summer - 10/09
Last weekend I got permission to hunt at a farmhouse owned by a family friend. Today I got away and hunted it for a few hours in the beautiful weather. I dug a '44 wheat, an Indian Head (1896), and out on a bank near the road, an 1899 Barber dime. Also found various relics including a spoon and buckle protector for a harness. (The man who farmed here originally used horses.) The sand dollar pin is a newer piece but I still like it. Then I was invited inside for a late lunch to celebrate the lady of the house's birthday....99 years old today! Since hot pizza sounded better than a cold sandwich, I joined them and we caught up on all the family news. This remarkable 99YO mother raised 7 kids in this house with no indoor plumbing until 1955, which I find incredible.
So, Indian summer weather, two coins from an earlier century and a birthday that is almost a century all in one day.
HH and thanks for looking,
Michiganne
p.s. Only gridded partially so I will return.

Nice finds Anne. Looks like you have a lot of acreage to hunt, should be a good spot for quite some time.
But to share a 99Th birthday, that's special. (People are the richest relics)!

To share the birthday with that lady was the "icing on the cake"
