maiden voyage with minelab and first digs from my yard

Had to give it a shot.....a lot of spots were still frozen but some spots were easy diggins! Managed to pull a 1903 V nickel and a nice 1905 IH along with a couple of wheaties and a few relics. The lead whistle was a cool thing to recover I thought. Oh man it was so much fun! I know its gonna get cold again so I took advantage of the nice day! HH all, Griff

Way to go! I was wondering if you got a chance to get out today. I found a soft spot as well

Love the whistle, and I'm completely jealous of the coins Can't wait to see what you get once everything thaws!

Way to go J! Sweet coins and relics. Love the whistle; does it work? I can't wait to see what else is hiding.

Great finds! Wish I could get out, we had a thaw, but now the wind is howling! Blew the cover off our 5th wheel! I too am looking to buy a Minelab. Got the ok from the boss (Gloria my wife) and just need to transfer some money to Paypal.Hoping for a great year! I have my goals list ready to be filled.

Re: maiden voyage with minelab and first digs from my yard

Congrats, sweet V and IH, that whistle looks cool!

I'm thinking you're gonna put that SE to real good use

Got out myself yesterday( some ground was diggable/some still frozen,) was able to use myExcellerator 8x6 coil on my SE for the first time. I kinda like it, but would like to try it out under better conditions, was very windy- we even lost our power. Did find 6 wheatsand a Merc so I think the 8x6 did good.

    Good luck,
    HH.

Nice start to the year. Did you cover a lot of your front yard? How did ya like the new weapon?

Actually the front yard was still too frozen to dig in, but in scanning over it there was a ton of trashy signals, and actually pretty big areas that completely nulled out because of the iron. Next time I'll try it with it wide open in all metal mode or use that quick mask thing. Haven't had much time to play with it other than the factory settings. I do like it as a machine and am looking forward to getting more familiar with it. Thanks Jim, stop by if you're ever in the area.

We'll just drive around town (with our detectors in hand) until we see your house.
