First 2011 field hunt = keeper 03/13
I've been watching the MI finds start to roll in but life has been too crazy busy to get out. Today I finally had some free time (and new kneepads that were way too white) so I revisited a nearby cornfield that has given up a big token (Jury/Rowe) and an 1850 LC, amongst other relics. Man, did I feel out of the groove with a cold wind biting, fumbling with heavy gloves, nose running, and way too many nails dug. But this was my first field hunt of 2011. I finally got a nice steady signal and dug down next to a rock. Another nail. :P I re-scanned the hole and could still hear the good tone. Another scoop and finally in the plug I recovered a nice green disc. After some gentle cleaning I could see a large cent. She looks pretty good for a 165YO coin. I'm not sure whether or not I want to do the peroxide cleaning, as I like the greenies.
I found a few more odds and ends: lots of crockery bits, a lantern knob, a button that says "The Harvester," and part of a toy gun, I think.
No stress now, I'll be smiling all week. And mission accomplished on the too clean kneepads!

Looks like a "lazy 6" (i made that up) Sounds good to me D. Actually I just checked my redbook and there are different varieties on the 1846 dates. I'll have to research it better or let a fellow Tnetter tell me what it is.
I have yet to find one Yeah, it took me a few years. You really need to get onto the old sites.

There are many, many varities in the L.C. run. Check them out before you clean it. I would not. It looks great!

Congratulations Anne! That's a doozie of an LC. That coin is on my wish list bigtime. I guess your only going to top that one with a gold coin, and I wouldn't be surprised.
