    My first Liberty Half 3-31-11

I was out for an hour today, got a bouncy signal that usually means a big aluminum pull-top off a can, instead I found a 1954 quarter, and a 1941 half with a 46 nickel sitting right on top of it. Anyone know how to get the rust-looking stuff off? I have it in olive oil right now. This is why I dig EVERYTHING that is not iron... and most that is, lol.

The date was completely obscured with stuck on yuck, but I persevered and did not rub it even though it was a couple of hours before I could go home to wash it.

I would try electrolosis on it if it were mine. They do sell some good silver cleaners at coin dealers.
    Congrats on the 1/2 dollar!

Use vinegar and baking soda. I've used that quite a few times to clean silver coins.
