Went out for a little bit today, spent about two hours diggin' trash, clad, some little metal do-hickey's, a yogi bear charm, etc. Was time to go pick up the kid, and on the way back to the car popped this baby out of the ground:
10k gold, looks like it was lost yesterday. Gonna look for the owner in a little bit, good thing there's a name on the inside!
Holy Smokes!!.....thats a big hunk of gold there! bet thet were bummin when they lost that, would be so awesome if you could reunite that ring with the owner. most likely you could find them on facebook. ....keep us posted. Congrats Jade, on a most excellent recovery!!
I found him on memory lane, sent an email, here's to hoping he gets it! Looks like he had two brothers that went there around the same time, if I can't get a hold of him, I'll try them. One of them is bound to still live around here!
Aesome! I love finding class rings! I now have found class rings from 8 different decades!
Well done on the find and the attempt to return. Hope it works out.

You guys are NOT going to believe this! My best friend stopped by, and I was telling him about finding the ring. He said his next door neighbor has the same last name, and he'd talk to him and see if he knew the guy on the ring.
I just got off the phone with my friend, the next door neighbor is the guys brother. What do you think the chances are for that? As soon as the ring was mentioned, he knew exactly where I found it. They were tossing a ball or something twenty years ago, it flew off and they couldn't find it. This is great. The brother lives about a quarter mile away from me.
The owner is supposed to be in Jackson on Easter weekend, I'm going to return it to him then. (He doesn't live around here anymore.) I can hardly wait to see the look on his face!
Returned the ring today! Dan came out to his brothers to pick up his ring. He said he had hoped someone would call some day, but that he never expected it to be his brother!
He said he lost it playing frisbee about two months after he got it. He had even had someone look for it out there with a metal detector. So it has been laying in the ground for 36 years! I'm glad the other detectorists that go there must disc out all those "junk" signals.
He insisted I accept a reward for returning it, so I now have a nice new gift card to go to dinner. And, of course, the great feeling of doing the right thing!
