BIG silver today!!!...........
Had fun today! Beautiful day, Detected about 5 hours, and got me some keepers too! First keeper was a Gold locket, then found the 7 beads. I thought they were silver but at best silver plate. Then I got the 1 year scout pin. I decided to head over to where I had got some silver and wheats in the past. My first target was one that had me curious because I had not seen those numbers on my ID before. I dig a 4" deep plug and found the target was in my plug. So I cut into it and flipped the dirt towards the hole and there was Mr. Franklin looking back at me! Also there was a quarter laying next to the half. Further inspectin shows the quarter was on top of the half. You can see two green spots where they were touching. The interesting thing is the half is a 1952D, and the quarter is a 1993. My best guess is that someone had the half in their pocket as their lucky piece? Either way I am happy! It is my first Franklin half! I have Barbers and Walkers, but now I can check this one off my list! I also got 16 wheats from the teens to the forties, and a neat old lipstick tube, and another heart pendant, and 51 clad coins. What a great day! Thank you Lord!

Congrats Mike. Like you I had the other halfs before I finally found a Franklin. That is weird about the modern quarter on top of the big old silver but ya take em any way ya get em. Now they will probably pop up more often, the Franklins, thats what happened to me anywho.
Ya never know until ya go.

Congrats on your Franklin half, Mike! I didn't realize it was a first for you. How did Eric miss it all these years?

My guess is that because of the mixed signal of the two coins, many have gone over it thinking it was trash? Just like when I dug a rusty coin purse at an old school house that was shallow and right where many had hunted before me. The rusted coin purse clasp caused an ugly signal, even though there were two Barber halves, a wheat, and a kalamazoo transit token there also!
