    mint error or purposely damaged?

    I posted this in the what is it forum by spend most of my time here in the mi pages. wondering what you all think this penny is.

    I've heard years ago that kids would grind down pennies on the sidewalk, down to dime size, and cheat the coke machine, (good ol days when coke was 10 cents). It also looks like the start of a coin ring, or, just good ol-fashioned damage with a hammer. ffd

    Looks like they were making something out of it. Kida small but that is how you start a coin ring.

    Interesting. I found a dime like that a few years back. I think someone hammered the edges for some reason.
