Found a buckle- 1600's!
Hello, there is a public beach within site of an French trading post that I frequent, recently, I've shied away from it due to high lake levels. I gave it a good few days of working, and it payed off big time. I've gotten many musket balls and my oldest coin, 1857 large cent, which is hard to come by this far north previous years. However, this time I got my oldest datable find, 1690-1720 French buckle, which coincides with the occupation of the area. Took me a while to ID it because I'm not used to dealing with such old stuff. The other odds and ends include fishing weights, pocket knife, old toy train, 1930's cracker jack token, wheat penny, musket ball, unfinished bullet or maybe sinker, Victorian sash buckle, some clad, and finally the very old buckle
