Went out with the granddaughter yesterday to look for a lost geocache. The woods were thinned out last year and my cache was in one of the trees that was cut down. Did not find it but found a few square nails and some chunks of barbed wire fence so I'm thinking there was a building out there at some point in time. Doing some research at the Whitelake library this weekend, they have some plat books from the 1800, s. So maybe I'll start taking my detector with me when I go geocaching with the kids and find some trinkets while they hunt for caches!! We'll call it Geotecting or Metalcaching.....

The plat map will tell you if there was a building there. I like geocaching too. Visited the coolest one ever today!

Geocaching sounds like it could be a lot of fun.
Researching some of these old places is half the fun of Metal Detecting. Good Luck
Happy Hunting
