Hi all,
Haven't been hunting much with all the dryness and heat. Wanted to share a before/after electrolysis item. I found this large horse bit this spring in one of my fields. My friend Charlie in the club has a electrolysis unit set up for bigger items and offered to clean it up for me. I thought it turned out pretty grand. He sealed it up with a coating of beeswax that I bartered to him.

Stay cool out there!

looks great, i have found an old home-site in one of our fields and have recovered a few pieces that i want to clean up and display. the electrolysis is "easy" enough, and i keep bees, and planned on sealing with bees wax. now that i see it done, looks like i have a rainy weekend gameplan. can you tell me if the wax is melted and applied or applied with a solvent. i have an axe head from the old homesite that is going to be my first piece and i would really like it to be as purty as your bit
thx scot

Scot,
One of the earlier pieces Charlie did for me I remember he said he let the iron piece sit on his woodstove and get warm, then rubbed the beeswax on. For the horse bit he said he used a torch to heat it slightly, then applied. Hope this helps and good luck!
