Got out to a new spot last weekend - a few relics, a few coins and my 2nd favorite dug button to date! Sic Semper Tyrannis is a Latin phrase meaning "thus always to tyrants". It is the official motto of the Commonwealth of Virginia. This is also the phrase that John Wilkes Booth shouted during his assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

Nice VA button. Front looks a little weird? Seen a lot of them over the years at the big CW hunts I have been on. Is it possible it is a re enactor button?

Thanks Mike - never thought about that because of the depth dug (4-5") and location found. The back of the button says SCOVILL MFG CO WATERBURY
