    5th consecutive hunt w/ a single silver find/ Nice 1944 merc

    Hello SE Michigan here.

Had a horrific hunt today due to pull tabs. They were everywhere at the park site that an old dude, 81 years old, told me about yesterday. Not one nickel, no gold of course, just pull tabs every square inch. I did snag me azip top pull tab, I believe its mid 1963, it has smile beads.
I found only 8 coins all together and was at it for hours. Found that merc and itwas well worth it, a 44' and she's rather pretty. Came out of the ground exactly as pictured.Don't understand how the 64' rosie I found yesterday was black w/ tarnish, and this one looks tarnish free. About 1/2 hour after finding the merc I did something I haven't done in over a month, I set my detector to dig only copper and silver.

Keep at it B! What I don't get is that my ratio of Mercs to Roosevelts is approx. 7:1 this year, and it's not that the Mercs are any deeper, I just find that odd. AMC

That '44 merc is in great shape. I think it is one of the best looking coins that the US ever minted..Sorry about the pull tabs...I am beginning to hate cans.

    Nice Merc!
May want to ask Mastereagle if he is interested in only zipper pulls, or if he would like can tabs too. LOL.
Way to stick with it through all the trash to find the goodies!

Hello AMC rulz, SC_Hunter and mpostma.

AMC both of my mercs were about 3 to 4 inches deep, most of my rosies were deeper.

SC_Hunter I just realized that the site I've been hunting bans the use of alcohol and the site I found the 44' merc. allows it. I've been spoiled.

mpostma, thats the 2nd zip top I've found, I believe they were made between 62-65.

    Good luck,
    HH.
