    Never ever hunted out

Went to an old one room school house this afternoon, it has been hunted by every concievable machine and detectorist there is. I wanted to see if the SE Pro was up to the challenge as I myself have hunted this spot with other machines and never ever came away with an old coin. These three indians took me about an hour to find the dates are ...1880, 1889, and a 1906 nice shape but no real key dates. they were about ten inches deep. I also got 4 wheat pennys dating 1910,1913,1928,and 1944. Must be the old silver is easier for other machines to find as so far that has kinda eluded me, but the old coppers are really poppin outa the hole. I have a few real great spots I'll be hitting in the next week. I hope they produce as well as I think they will.

    Happy Hunting

Jack, my friend! Those are some nice coins! That change to the explorer & the addition of the pro coil really did it for ya! Congrats on all the nice old coins you've been finding since! Hope Mom is feeling better, I know how tough it can be watching a loved one so sick.

Wow those are nice! The last couple I've found have not looked that great, they looked better "before" than after.
As far as silver goes, my opinion is that the silver doesn't sink as fast as say an older copper or clad coin. In worked out areas the silver was the first to go thanks to prehistoric detectors (like my white's coinmaster, purchased in 1977).
Coins also are moved around in the earth, (groundmoles, frost, ect) so there is always the chance of something new being discovered.
Anyway, keep em coming Jack. AMC

    Re: Never ever hunted out

Nice finds! new to this hobby with my MXT (since spring), starting to think I should have bought an SE. Seem to see a lot of finds in hunted out spots with those. I have put in some serious hours with this and have not had much luck except for clad. Might just be lack of good spots, I have found a few deep silvers but they were just tweeks on the VDI.

I drove through your area last weekend, took a detour coming out of Caseville. Thought i would see if there were any parks off off 19. Never did find anything promising.
