Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
With mid-December temperatures in the upper 40's, I felt the need to get out one more time. I had already put the detector away more than a month ago after the "Big" snow event.
Here is what it looked like back in early November.
Now with nicer weather, I noticed some demolition of some older homes near me and decided that if the weather would hold out until the weekend I might try to get permission to detect there. On Friday there were fences put up around the entire site, and was unable to get permission to detect there.

So I decided to go to the ball field in Wabasha where I knew I could at least find a few coins. Most of the coins that I found there in the past were not all that old, but I usually could find a little silver. Occasionally and older coin could be found there because there used to be old houses on the site.

The day was too nice to waste going Christmas shopping so I headed there instead to detect for a couple of hours.

I can't ever remember the grass being green in the middle of December, in Minnesota, but here is what the site looked like. Here are my finds too. I did manage to pull out one Indian head and a silver dime. Note the square nails, the old spoon, and the lead thingy with a hinge on top. (Don't know what it is but its old).

Bruce, too bad about the old home sites and because I really find older
homes more interesting-- too bad their being torn down!!
I was able to detect during the week for a while- this weather is
unbelievable!! ;D This weekend didn't work out -- colder than the
forecast so ground was very hard and sick family and Christmas
preparations limited My free time.
Glad your snow melted and you had time to get out and find a
few things. i'm already looking forward to spring!!
HH ( and Happy Holidays too!!)
