My heart almost stopped when I turned the soil over and saw gold and the shape of a coin.
I was hunting where some old houses were torn down and got a good signal, but it was a Mardi Gras Doubloon from 1971.
I also found a couple of buttons. One is a Cones Boss button.
There is also what looks to be some kind of copper or brass brooch.
I also found some square nails and some really old broken glass and plates.
I only found one memorial penny.
I feel like there has to be some silver dimes in the area. I only had an hour to hunt but am planning on going back. There's a lot of trash so the detecting is really tough.

I think you will have to take your gold doubloon to New Orleans to try and spend it. Its Louisiana currency.

I think you're right redbronco.
It's got to be worth at least a good cold DIXIE beer and a serving of hot CRAWFISH !!!

Haha, been there, done that. Found the same gold doubloon on the beach at Bay St. Louis. It does give a few extra strokes on the heart.

If it will get cold beer and crawfish, I'm through with nickels and dimes.
