This is a Burnside carbine cartridge hull I found today in west central Mississippi.

This is only my second one to ever find. The site I was hunting was an 1864 camp so Burnsides were used more then. Hunting Vicksburg campaign sites they are rare as hens teeth

I have lived in MS for 5 yrs and really don't know many places. I live on the coast and mostly hunt parks etc and rarely the beach. It's surprising where you will find stuff though.

The coast area has seen European occupation for over 300 years. I know a guy that used to hunt a civil war parade ground down in the Biloxi area and found some nice stuff too. You're right about where you find stuff. You never know.
I have found lots of indian artifacts on the coast. Back Bay Biloxi always produces some good stuff. Good luck!
