A 70 year old Arkansas man tells me he detected a nice specimen nugget at
a GPAA claim near Orogrande, NM. The detector was a Tesoro Lobo. He does
not have a computer to post a picture. The host rock was turquoise in color.
Back home he broke off two pieces that contained one oz each. After removing
more detrious rock his nugget weighed in at 18.1 troy oz. A gold/silver dealer
in Arkansas valued the purity at 18k.
Last night he told me he would keep it around until he gets a good offer.

Very cool! I drywash the Orogrande area and metal detect there once in a while as well. Haven't ever found any nuggets. That's a lucky man there.

Good to know im only about 30 miles away from there and i ride my dirtbike alot out at red sands which is right next to it. Once i get myself a detector i will definitely spend some time there after riding! I wanted to hit up some of these old mines but dont know the laws. I just moved to NM a couple months ago lol
