NC has been very kind to me. We are very lucky to have such history and old properties to MD.
Here are some of my finds over the last few years. I have a lot more than this though.
A few of my favorites have been:
*Civil War Sword Belt Plate (last December)
*1833 Half Dime (found two days ago)
*Spanish silver piece of eight reale (last December)
*20 CW 3-ringers in one hole in the woods.

Well, this is my first crack at posting photos here. If it works, you will see a few of my better NC finds. Let's hope it works!

The game warden's badge is from the late 20's or early 30's
The necklace is 19g of 24K gold
Next is the Southern Cross of Honor - awarded to a confederate veteran
Then a Script "I" kepi button
Block "A" coat button - found last week
Then a W. Dowler Confederate Staff Officer's coat button
Next is 2 reales - 1796
Last of all.....1847 $5 gold - Charlotte Mint

Well, I figured it would be hard enough topping MM's finds, then Tony had to post up too... .

Maybe not the same caliber of finds by "the masters" but just as exciting nonetheless...

1. Silver "nugget", 2. Late 1800's Copper coat button, 3. Green River Whiskey token, 4. 1837 "Hard Times" token (by far my favorite), 5. 1907 "D" Barber Quarter

I agree! Nothing shabby about any of those finds. That token is increbile! I would love to say I had found that one!

Here are just a fraction of what I have found in NC over the years. Just a fraction. I have not even opened the safe to post any of that stuff. If anyone knows what the small copper token is next to the 1900 dime is, please tell me. It was found at an encampment. The obverse is not too visible, but it has stars over an indian head. The reverse has stars over the number 1. Thanks for looking.

Continuation of finds from over the years

Some more. The one pic is an 1834 5 C piece. The tootsie toys I found in 1992 in Tukwila, Wa at my childhood home in the 60's, early 70's. My brother and I were not too careful with our cars I guess. They were all about 2" deep and I can still recall playing with them! The B key is the beginning letter of our last name, so Dad must have lost it. The 50C pieces were in the same hole. When I detected the home, it was sadly all boarded up and is now gone. My Dad is also passed away. Detecting my childhood home was probably the greatest detecting experience of my life. Finding items my family and I lost as a boy.

And for those that do not know, Muddy is a avid Privy digger as well... is that the correct term??!!! He has a many a story that happened on his outings, not to mention lots of cool items he has dug over the years. From the Privy digging, my favorite stories would be the time the local fire dept stopped him to ask some questions (Muddy and I are both firefighters as well), and the time he was "offered" some help from a woman. UH... lets just say the area he was digging that day was known for drugs and women that often "offered" their assistance... uh, their services to men!

I don't recall if I have any older ones in the safe, but one of the pictured ones that looks like a dog head is 1912. No pics of the 'lady', but unless you like dark, skinny and somewhat-bathed, I don't think you would enjoy the pics
