The Lake Lure Inn opened in 1927 and is still operating.
I'll be interested to see the pic.

Some history:
Lake Lure was created and developed by Lucius and Elizabeth Morse. When Morse bought the land (eventually 8,000 acres including the town of Buffalo) he envisioned a lake resort. A generating dam was started to power the resort and also as a source of revenue. By the time the Lake Lure dam was finished, so was the Lake Lure Inn. For the treasure hunter, the town of Buffalo is still underneath Lake Lure's calm waters.

That would great to go diving, depending on how deep the lake is.

Cool find. Some scenes from Dirty Dancing were filmed at Lake Lure.

I live about 10 miles from lake lure and the lake is reported to be pretty deep in places. Growing up, we would hear stories of divers inspecting the dam etc. that would come up and would swear they would never dive there again because of the man sized catfish living there! True or not, I can't say but the town of Buffalo was flooded to make the lake.
Below is a link telling about the inn and when Roosevelt visited there.
