I used to detect out a lot of foreign coins in Oklahoma, mostly dated from the 40's on up til present time, but I've dug nary a one here in Colorado. Here's a representative sample. Mostly they would be around old homeplaces or areas of public use. Oklahoma has a large number of military vets, and when my sister came back from overseas duty she brought me a few European coins. That's my theory for explaining the large number of foreign coins; brought back as souvenirs by returning soldiers. That still doesn't explain how a coin from Zambia wound up in an Oklahoma state park. They all seem to hold up better for bein buried a few years than American coins, but I have a few that are unrecognizable. Note: Every foreign coin I found I cleaned the crap out of it, too. Probably not a good idea, as I would never do that to a US coin.
