on a 1928 house demo and got an 1854 seated Quarter. Actually saw the coin in the gravel and iron ore driveway as the coil passed over it. Registered in the clad quarter range 44-45 and bounced a bit to silver 46-47 and 13 on the ferrous side. I knelled down fully expecting it to be a clad as it was really caked with crud and rusty looking I could not see any details on it so I rubbed the edge and saw it was silver. My brain was thinking Washington quarter, so I rubbed it a bit and nothing would come off and I still could not see any of the front or back. so I tapped it with my Lesche knife back to break up the crud. Part of the crud came off and then I could see the part of the upper wing. I thought SLQ and went over to a puddle of water to wash it a bit. soaked, it, patted it and finally could see the base of the seated.

It ties with my oldest US coin as I dug an 1854 dime a few years ago. Hunted for another 3 hours and also got a 52 rosie, and a 68 Kennedy.
