Virginia in March

I will be traveling down from Upstate New York to the Virginia Beach area March 23-28, My son 11 year old son will be wrestling at Nationals. Can anyone give me any ideas on where to MD. I was down there last year and did some beach detecting, but I am more of a relic hunter. Maybe if someone has some fields or woods they don't go to anymore or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
