Looks like the brass handle to an artillery sword to me. Great find!

delta 4000 / ace 250 - used BH and many others too
looks very similar to a US 1832 model short sword design…. us artillery / foot soldier short sword--civil war eraish --brass handled --iron blade --likely rusted away..
