I know im late on this thread but it peaked my interest due to me spending some time in this area. Wheeling stamping plant OR Nail City Lantern shows no history of being on 26th street. Even more interesting to me is Wheeling has TWO 26th streets..LOL. Thank god for numbers I guess. Heres the break down of Wheeling Stampings locations. 1877?~1886: as "Nail City Lantern Co.," 1212 Main St.
▶ 1886~1888: as "Nail City Lantern Co.," 1312-1314 Water St.
▶ 1888~1892: as "Nail City Lantern Co.," 1312-1316 Water St.
▶ 1892~1894: as "Nail City Lantern Co.," 2106-2116 Water St.
▶ 1894~1898: as "Nail City Stamping Co.," 2106-2116 Water St.
▶ 1898~1956: as "Wheeling Stamping Co.," 2116 Water St.
So at the time of this publication they would have been on Water St. There is an unnamed alley that goes behind the W.A.T.C.H center off of 26th and Main. Sounds to me like keeping secrets went further than actual location of this gold..Im thinking there may be more out there but finding the "X" on the map will be impossible.. maybe just heading to Wheeling Island Casino would venture better..or not
