minelab user has had enough i need a fisher

every POS minelab i get have.. excalibur,safari.. all are random, temperamental, make random noise.. in the lab ya they go deep but they are soo screwed up .. You spend more time tinkering with them then detecting.. Bob Frog Foot Weller told me he HATED minelabs and called them scams and poorly made.. he always warned me i never listend. you turn a damm fisher on and it WORKS.. simple. .minelab u need a PHD in electronics.. they have constant interference with soil mineralization int he northeast.. im tired of being scammed. i dealt with kelly co again..

I am guessing you didn't learn them, I have owned 3 Excals and still own 2 and I own 2 Sovereign GTs and I have no problem understanding what they are telling me, there are no random noises on any of them, nor are they temperamental........When I get a tone, I have a target, I have never dug a piece of iron up on a null unless I chose to dig it up to see what it was.

Hope you have better luck with your Fisher............

I hope you don't mean to get one of the F series Fishers. If you can't handle the Minelabs, then you will be hopelessly lost. If you're just feeling too old school to learn the new tricks and techniques then I suggest the CZ series.

I hunt with relative newbies all over the place and sadly, they are picking the goodies out with their ETracs like only the best hunters used to be able to do.

Inch for inch I hold that the CZ series is just as, if not deeper and as accurate a machine as the ETrac but they (ETracs) have an edge in trashy ground, seen it too often to argue against it. I'd say the same for the high end of the 1200 series.

I suspect your trouble with the detectors is something else entirely. You mention random noises an this can be electrical interference. http://www.fisherlab.com/hobby/davej...terference.htm

Detectors that do not pick up interference are either set to low with the sens and gain to find a metal garbage can lid under a sheet of newspaper. Do you turn off your cell phone when detecting? You can always turn it on when you make a call.

I kinda agree with the rest of the guys. You have problems your not seeing/diagnosing properly. I'm a BIG Fisher fan, and never had much use for minelabs myslef, but I have friends that use them, and I can tell you they work in capable hands. In parks looking for deep silver, I tend to get my butt handed to me if my buddy is using an Explorer or such and we are cherry picking for deep coins. When we relic hunt......it a while nother ball game though, and I tend to hand THEM their collective butts on a platter with my F series detectors. Also, MOST places in the north east are not very heavily mineralized, so unless your in a coal belt..that dog wont hunt. like someone else mentioned................its more likely you have heavy Rf interference where your beeping. I aint saying you didnt get a bad minelab....................I'm just saying............................

I'm saying that the coal belt areas in Pa ARE heavily mineralized, and difficult to detect sometimes. unless he is in one of them.............his statement that the Pa mineralization is causing him problems is invalid. The soil in Pa is largely pretty nice, but there ARE exceptions........................

thats not "quite" true. While minelabs were designed to operate in hot Aussie soil, there are parts in the states where they generally suck. Central Va is one of them, were its heavy IRON mineralization. They do NO better than any other VLF machine. They are not much better in the coal belt either. The coke drives em nuts as its soooooooo prevalant. While minelabs DO do better in "certain" types of mineralization..... (like at the beach) ......they to not work well in ALL types of mineralization. In those scenarios...............I'd just as soon use my LTD in all metal as ANY minelab. (cept for the Minelab pulses)
In super hot soil I have two Ground Balancing pulses I use. They (ground balancing pulse induction machines)
are the pinacle of performance in iron laden soils...........and I dont see any othe type of machine overtaking them any time soon. (and that includes Most minelabs....sans the Minelab pulses).
We went thru this with Garrett too. Garrett told us there is no place in the US where the Infinium (Their current Groundbalancing PI machine) even NEEDED to be groundbalanced. problem was..................they had never experienced hot Va soil, but after they got a sample of it....they changed their tune. Point is....even the manufacturers are blissfully unaware sometimes.
    Hot soil: Groundbalancing pulse machines.
Certain types of difficult soils: A few minelab offerings and true threshold based VLF's in all metal.
Good soil: pretty much everything else.............................. (but mostly F series Fishers)

Iam still waiting for my Sov.GT if Minelab ever steps up there production in the mean time my hunting buddy is letting me use his since i just got the S-12 coil and let me tell ya i never got that deep before in fields i love that smooth threshold sound and when it stops bingo a old copper buckle 10 inches deep that machine is a monster in fields ,by the way he uses his E-Trac and Vision V3 but cant get as deep as the Sov.GT turn on adjust for a few seconds and your off hunting no interference unless your standing directly under power lines ,ok once i was stupid i forgot to take off my Harley D wrist watch and every time i ran a fist full of dirt past the coil i would get a signal this went on for 5 minutes then i realized Dd60

I agree with your assessment of a Minelab machine. I'm going Tesoro I believe. Monty

Re: minelab user has had enough i need a fisher

You will have problems with a F75.. As far as "turn on a damn fisher and it works" don't bet the farm on that one!!! I believe your in CT.. Is the mineralization high there? Or maybe EMI (which the f75 highly susceptible too.) Any machine turned up to max will be unstable.. Did you get the Etrac? If you want a stable machine you have to adjust it to your preference at your site.. If it means you have to reduce the sensitivity way down that's what you have to do.. As far as random noise that may be small iron or aluminum reacting or EMI.. I really want to try the new goldbug pro but FT is having problems with the new goldbugs (all versions) FT is 3 for 3 with me..The most stable detector I have had is the Whites M6, but I have moderate soil here.. Each machine has it's own quirks, so try turning down the sensitivity and work your way back up.. Learn your machine as stated in all the advice given by everyone here and wise advice it is!!
