Suggestions on getting F70 working in a "problem" yard area.

My property has been graded/moved over the years, but I have an area I think is the original grade, and my Fisher F70 goes nuts over the area, I could not get it to work well.

This is brand new to me, and this was the first time using it.

Sensitivity 60~70 I was trying to keep it high as I could
Threshold -3
I had Disc at 30
Speed DE
I am using the 11" DD coil
I also periodically ground balance.

But the enitire ground was beeping iron. I dug down a few spots and there are rocks and bricks burried.

Would a small 5" coil help in this situation?

Yes the 5" coil is very much quieter than the 11" coil. Not sure about the small elliptical coil but both big and small ellipticals should perform slightly better in noisy ground than the big DD which seems like a noise magnet in some sites like the one you describe.

Sounds like you're working the side of the old yard where there may be a lot of hot rocks or coal cinder from days gone by. Only other thing is cranking up the thresh to -9 then seeing how high you can get the sense.

I think Lowbatts nailed it with the cinders and hot rocks. Running to high a sensitivity is also part of the problem. Fisher's were always liking iron. The smaller coil will see less ground to report a good target when it is a Hot Rock. Bricks and Terra cotta are not detectors friends.

These guys have great tips. Try turning sensitivity even lower. This machine is very deep even at low settings.

I've had similar problems in my yard using an F75. Besides the old iron and nails in the ground, the overhead powerlines didn't help the situation at all.

I have used both the 5" and 4x coil and they made the job a lot more pleasant. Between the two I'd say the 4x6 ran a little quieter but still had great depth. I also knocked my sens down to 50 and sometimes lower and still was able to get some keepers at decent depths.
