Need help with the CZ-70 pro… Does anyone else own one?

Wanted to hear some thoughts on the cz70 pro and how much a good priced for a used one would be.
I'm going to possibly pick one up tomm. and wanted to be sure on this one. Heard some good things about the depth.
Well any info / opinions would be most appreciated thank you.

I'm still wet behind the ears as far as metal detecting goes so my knowledge is limited. I've only used one fisher and it was the f2. I've only read top notch things about all of the CZ's minus some nitpickers here and there and the differences between digital and analog settings etc. I should have had this thing by now but some major flooding around me might push back getting this thing til the weekend. I'm getting it regardless just wanted to see if anyone had anything to say about this model that I haven't already read.

Got it today! Going out tomorrow with it to a place i've hit at least 10 times with a Garrett AT Pro. Hopefully I dig some deep silver like i've been reading it does. I thought the AT Pro was going to get me a little deeper especially with the 11" dd coil but it just wasn't cuttin' it.
I haven't been posting many of my finds lately but I'll post whatever I find tomorrow.

Any specific tips for not digging nails? Dug about fifty holes this morning and at least a third of them were at least 5"+ deep rusty nails. I was in spots hit real hard with an AT Pro already so I was mainly digging deeper coin signals.

Run Sensitivity at 6 or less.
When you it a iffy target rotate around it .
If you can keep a Hi tone More than 50% of the rotation dig it.

Aaaahhhhhhhh, the old rusty nail problem I use a Fisher CZ-3D. All of the CZ's are more alike than different. Here's the thing, Fishers in general tend to love iron - especially older, deeper iron. The CZ's are some of the deepest detectors out there. They can rival - if not beat - Explorers, T2's, F75's, etc. The trade off of course, is the iron problem. They like to give a high tone on junk.

There are a few tricks you can try to 'ferret' out what the target really is before digging. However, these tricks aren't perfect nor do they work everytime. But, it WILL cut down on some of the iron.

1. When you get a deep-ish high tone that you suspect might be iron, try raising the coil about six inches above the target & see if the signal or tone changes.

2. Try flicking or whipping the coil over where the target signal is. This sometimes reveals the true identity of the buried item.

3. Listen real close to the audio. It's difficult, but, after a while you'll be able to pick-up tell-tale signs of iron.

4. When pinpointing or X'ing the target, iron tends to have a very wide field. It covers a bit more ground. Very diluted. A coin or ring on the other hand has a very tight & narrow signal. More zippy too.

A lot of this probably doesn't make sense, but, it will after 100 hours or so on your detector. IMHO, CZ's aren't the best choice for trashy/iron laden sites. They'll work fine, but, you're gonna have to slow waaaaay down & your trash to good finds ratio will be through the roof

Thanks for the tips i'm gonna drop the sensitivity down to 6 from 10 and really start listening.
Heres a photo of my first outing with the cz70.

See a trend here? Every one of these nails gave a repeatable non jumping coin ID. And usually no less than 5 or 6 inches.
I love this thing it goes deep. 15 deep wheaties that i missed with the AT were recovered from no less than 5". All of them. Some as far as 9". Thats something i'm really not used to.

Did manage to pull a silver ring that was very close to a rusty nail though. So I broke my CZ cherry on my first day with her. thanks for the tips guys keep'em comin!

Look for foil targets greater than 5".

Learn pinpointing function. It really helps with avoiding nails.

If you are in trashy areas, it is sometimes possible to pick good targets of out bad by lifting the coil a bit so the tip of the search field is cutting a smaller swath through the matrix. Or get a 5" coil also.

Does it read nickel at 4"? It's probably a beavertail. The CZ found a nice old militia button at 4" beneath the bottom of a new sidewalk cut. Read Zinc.

IH's can read from foil to zinc depending on depth and time in ground.

All the CZs are great machines. You get a quality machine from Fisher in my opinion.
I never dug iron with my CZ though at Disc=4; some pull tabs and old beer screw tops, but not iron.
Mine is an enhanced CZ-3D though, so am not sure on the nitty gritty's there with the CZ70.
I've dug iron with a 1266-X, but that's a relic machine and you will dig iron with relic machines.
Too bad Fisher doesnt make one that's waterproof/splashproof, but who knows maybe since Garrett popped the cork they will.

Thanks I was wondering what indian heads read as. I always forget to bring one with me for testing when I go out. I stopped digging zinc for a while and noticed I haven't a single IH to show for it. Going back to digging it all except iron. Thanks great tips.

The CZ-70 is splash proof. Was using it the other day in the rain a little. I wouldn't go out in the pouring rain but a light mist isn't sending me home. thanks for the pm as well. The next version of the AT pro they put out will be better but I just can't seem to get comfortable with the Garrett's. Had the ace 250 and the at pro. Personal preference I suppose.
